V Gopalakrishnan

Mr. Gopalakrishnan has worked as a Policy Analyst (Space Law & Policy) at Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Bangalore. In his professional career spanning more than twenty-five years at ISRO, his experience includes technology management and legal aspects in relation to satellite projects and international cooperation in Outer Space activities. He has been a member of the Indian delegation to Legal Sub Committee meetings of UNCOPUOS (the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space). He has also participated in several programs like, international consultations on the “UNIDROIT Space Assets Protocol”, a Code of Conduct for the long-term sustainability of Outer Space activities, legal aspects of space security, legal aspects of space debris management, etc. He is also a member of International Institute of Space Law and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India). He has been deeply involved in the study and preparation of draft Space activities Bill. He has been very active in Capacity building among Law students of India on space law, as a member of Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Sub Committee of IISL. He has co-edited three publications on international Space Law. He has joined the advisory board of our blog as a senior member.

Dr. Sandeepa Bhatt

Dr. Bhatt is working as a Professor of Law at National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata. He has more than seventeen years of teaching and research experience at National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore and NUJS, Kolkata, which rank among the top Law Schools in India. He has done his specialization in International Law and Business and Trade Law (LL.M.) with First Rank and double gold medal at University of Mysore. He had also secured Third Rank at Mangalore University during his LL.B. and top scored his college to receive the gold medal. His Ph.D. is in the field of Space Law. Dr. Bhat has the experience of researching on five Major Research Projects sponsored by World Bank, ISRO, the WB Judicial Academy, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (in association with NLSIU). He has the distinction of being the member of International Institute of Space Law (IISL), Paris, France. Dr. Bhat is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Journal of Air and Space Law and is also associated with various other publications in different capacities. He has published three books on Space Law and three books on Medical Law. In addition, he has published more than forty five articles in the journals of international and national repute, which include Journal of Space Law (University of Mississippi), Annals of Air & Space Law (McGill University), Proceedings of Colloquium on Law of Outer Space (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics), Asia Pacific Journal of Health Law & Ethics (Ewha University), Sri Lanka Journal of International Law (University of Colombo), Athens Journal of Law, Kathmandu School of Law Review and Asian Journal of Air and Space Law. He has presented more than seventy five research papers in the international and national conferences including the coveted International Astronautical Congress, as well as in international conferences held at Jakarta, Seoul, Sharjah, Singapore and Changsha. He also has the distinction of being the member of ISRO Expert Advisory Group for drafting the National Space Act for India.

Dr. V. Balakista Reddy

Dr. Reddy is currently the Registrar and Professor of International law at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. He also heads NALSAR’s Center for Air and Space Laws. Dr. Reddy has over two decades of Teaching and Research experience. He has contributed significantly to the field of air and space law (including other subjects in international law) by teaching, introducing innovative and value-added courses, publishing, organizing national and international conferences/workshops at the national level and offering advice to the Government of India in matters concerning aerospace law in particular and other issues concerning international law in general. His association with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for drafting a space legislation for India has been another distinguishing highlight of his illustrious career. A prolific writer, Dr. Reddy has contributed extensively to various national and international journals on different facets of International law. His books on, (1) Air Law and Policy in India (1994) (2) Recent Trends in International Space Law and Policy (1997) and (3) Emerging Trends in Air and Space Law, (2007) (4) Space Law and Contemporary Issues (2012) have received international acclaim. He has joined the advisory board of our blog as a senior member.

Dr. Biswanath Gupta

Dr. Gupta is an Assistant Professor of Law at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), (Sonipat, Haryana), India. Prior to joining JGU he had been an Assistant Professor of Law at the National University of Study & Research in Law, Ranchi for two years and . He has also held academic position at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. He attained his attained his LL.M. degree from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, and was awarded his Ph.D from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. His book titled ‘Liability for Commercial Outer Space Activities: Need for a Legal Framework in India’ published with Nova Science Pub Inc is one his many celebrated manuscripts published with national and international publishing houses.

Ashok GV

Mr. Ashok is a Partner with Factum Law, Bengaluru, India. As an attorney, he specialises in Commercial disputes representing clients from aerospace, healthcare, manufacturing and technology industries in Intellectual Property, Taxation and Company disputes. Ashok advises space technology companies on remote sensing regulations, SATCOM regulations and telecommunication regulations, in addition to rendering his expertise for contract management, structuring investment transactions, asset management and enforcement and risk management. He has also authored several papers and articles on space law and policy issues, focusing specifically on balancing sovereign interests with the ambitions of private sector enterprises.
